SPECIALIZED ORAL PATHOLOGY IN DALLAS, TX
Making Specialized Oral Pathology Available to Everyone
Dr. Kelcie Barnts is a pretty new addition to the Center for Oral Pathology. Dr. Barnts
grew up in Northern California and attended both college and dental school at the
University of the Pacific, graduating from dental school in 2010. After graduating, Dr.
Barnts practiced general dentistry for seven years in the Bay Area. Dr. Barnts attended
Texas A&M University College of Dentistry for her residency, which is where she met Dr.
Paras Patel. After spending several years working in academics at Temple University in
Philadelphia, when given the opportunity to return to private practice and work with Dr.
Patel, she grabbed her boots and headed back to Dallas!
Since becoming involved in oral pathology, Dr. Barnts started to realize the difficulty
many patients have in accessing the care they need. There is so much need and not
enough resources available. Because of Dr. Barnts’s years of experience in patient
care, she feels like she is in the perfect position to serve patients with the oral mucosal
conditions that they are experiencing.
Dr. Barnts is currently the Primary Investigator for the Center for Oral Pathology site for
the Privo clinical trial. Innovation and advancement are needed in many aspects of oral
pathology and both Dr. Barnts and Dr. Patel are committed to doing their part to improve
the lives of their patients. To satisfy her love for teaching, Dr. Barnts travels to dental
offices throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex to teach courses to dentists and their
teams, mainly focused on oral cancer awareness.
